About Give Us Names (aka Our Heavy Hearts)

Give Us Names, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization seeking to improve the lives of displaced Colombians. Our goal is to tell their stories in such a way that those who hear them will not rest until displacement ends, justice is brought to the perpetrators, and the rights of the displaced are recognized and protected.

Plan of Action (aka Our Not-So-Impossible Dreams)

It’s impossible to solve a crisis that no one knows exists. The first step of ending displacement is to give it a face and a name. Give Us Names is currently raising the necessary financial backing to create a series of films on the plight of Colombia’s displaced. Each documentary will focus on the story of one person, show what led to their displacement, and provide tangible solutions to their situation. These films will be shown in schools and businesses, featured at film festivals and projected onto building sides, on street corners, in theaters, on computer screens, in living rooms and oval offices – anywhere and everywhere.

As we spread the word, we will move towards action. Displacement is not an unsolved mystery. We are aware of its causes and are researching solutions.

Get Involved (aka Our Many and Unabashed Needs)

Well, to get to the point, Give Us Names needs your money. We’re making films, and we have discovered that you can’t do that for free. To get a glimpse of the story we want to tell, check out the trailer we made during our last Colombia trip.

We need your help. Your voice. Your name.

We’re inviting you to the story. Displacement in Colombia is coming to an end. Welcome to the beginning. Click here to donate now.
